Ramiz Raja Lashes Out At ECB For Their Double Standards In Handling COVID-19

Former Pakistan player Ramiz Raja has slammed England Cricket Board for their double-standard in handling the coronavirus situation. Notably, England has been facing the third wave of the COVID in the country and stated the ‘West needs to acknowledge the spirit of subcontinent and commitment to the game’ while hinting at their process in dealing with cricket in the COVID-19.

He also said that the Pakistan team is continuing their England tour despite the fact that seven members of the England team, including three players, have been tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus. England, however, had left their tour of South Africa mid-way last year after COVID-19 affected the bio bubble.

“England team suffer at the hands of COVID yet Pakistan team stays. South Africa had one player with symptoms of covid in Dec and England chose to leave quoting mental challenges. West needs to acknowledge the spirit of sub continent and commitment to the game… nahin??,” Ramiz Raja asked on Twitter.

However, on Tuesday, COVID-19 had hit the England camp, which forced the ECB to announce a fresh new squad for the ODI series against Pakistan. And, the new team will be led by the all-rounder Ben Stokes. Meanwhile, despite the coronavirus scare, the Pakistan Cricket Board said that they were satisfied with the arrangements made by ECB as well.

“The PCB is satisfied by the assurances and guarantees provided by the ECB on behalf of its medical panel, and feels comfortable with the existing protocols that have been put in place to ensure all the Pakistan players and player support staff remain safe and secure throughout the duration of the series, which commences on Thursday, July 8, in Cardiff. The PCB has also been in touch with its team management and has advised them to exercise extra caution while in the hotel or at the match venue,”  the PCB said in its official statement.
