After getting a hamstring injury in Afghanistan’s last round-robin match during the tri-series in Bangladesh which involves the hosts and Zimbabwe, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has become doubtful for the tri-series final against Bangladesh.

In the eighth over of the second innings against Bangladesh, Rashid Khan pulled up in the field while trying to stop a single and suddenly looked in pain, before the physio came on to the field to examine him. He then had to leave the ground, unable to continue the game. However, after some detailed treatment, he came back on the field and even picked up two wickets, but was seen struggling through the rest of the innings.

“I cannot say that he will be available (for the final),” Afghanistan manager Nazim Jar Abdur Rahim Zai said to the reporters after the match. “He is doing well and let’s see what’s happening. We will have two or three days for recovery. I hope it’s not that serious because he is our captain and main player and we will monitor him tomorrow and the day after (before taking any decision).”

However, Afghanistan has already sealed their place in the final. Bangladesh finally defeated Afghanistan in Chattogram to end their four-match losing streak. This loss didn’t harm much to Afghanistan but Rashid Khan’s absence might be problematic for his side in the final. The final will be played on September 24th in Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium.
