There is no change in the captaincy of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the second leg of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. Rishabh Pant, who became the captain of the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who had undergone shoulder surgery, will be seen playing the responsibility throughout the season.
The co-owner of the team has announced that Rishabh Pant will continue to serve the team as captain. The BCCI started this season in April but it was postponed after the players were found corona infected in the bio bubble. Between September 19 and October 15, the remaining matches of this season are being conducted.

Announcing the same, the Delhi Capitals (DC) tweeted, “JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals today announced that Rishabh Pant will continue as Captain for the remainder of the #IPL2021 season.”

It was one of the most predictable decisions considering that the Delhi Capitals did well under Pant despite the fact that Shreyas Iyer led them to their first final last year in IPL 2021 so far.

Just before the start of the tournament earlier this year, the regular captain of the Delhi team, Shreys Iyer got injured during the series played against England while playing for India. He had a shoulder injury for which surgery was done. Now he has regained fitness and is ready to play in the remaining matches of this season.
Delhi Capitals are currently leading the IPL points table with 12 points having won six games under Pant’s captaincy earlier this year after he was assigned the role in absence of injured Iyer, who had to undergo shoulder surgery.
