During the fifth T20I of the Nidahas Trophy between Bangladesh and India at Colombo, Rohit Sharma hit back to form after scoring his 13th T20I half-century. After being put in to bat by the opposition captain, Rohit (particularly) and Shikhar Dhawan got their eye in before going for the big shots.

Rohit, who had returned with scores of 0, 17 and 11 in the tournament so far, was full or intent and purpose to answer the questions which were being asked of him outside the ground. His cautious approach might have been a concern for some in the initial overs, but after he shifted gears, all his critics were silenced.

By the end of the powerplay, India had scored 49-0. With the help of a couple of fours and a six, Rohit had scored 26 (23) in the powerplay. His graph went down in the next four overs as at the halfway mark, he was struggling at 33 (32).

It was at this point in time that Dhawan was dismissed and Suresh Raina entered the play field. Citing the responsibility on his head now, Rohit changed gears with full effect. More than anything, the team required him to play the big shots at this point for it was the only option left for India if they were to post a substantial total.

On the fourth delivery of the 13th over, with a single to deep point off Abu Hider, Rohit completed his 13th half-century. He achieved the feat in 42 balls. In the next 19 balls that he faced, he scored 39 runs (two fours and three sixes) as he and Raina gave India a much-required finish.

Sharma entered the last over when he was on 88. The prospects of scoring his third T20I century were high, but some pinpoint bowling from Rubel Hussain did not let that happen. Rohit got run out on the last ball of the innings. He ended up scoring 89 (61) with the help of five fours and five sixes.
