A run-out generally happens due to a lack of communication between the two batsmen and which is well supported by a sharp piece of fielding. However, in this case, Ian Bell’s ability to not decide whether to go for the single or not is what led to his dismissal.

The best part about this run-out is that Cameron White fails to collect the ball cleanly. Despite that, he manages to hit the stumps directly, and that too in a funny way.

It was during the fourth ODI of the Commonwealth Bank Series 2006-07. England captain, Andrew Flintoff, had won the toss and chose to bat in a bid to defeat Australia for the first time on the tour. Nathan Bracken and Glenn McGrath made early inroads into the English batting line-up as they reduced them to 70-3 in 17 overs.

With Mal Loye, Andrew Strauss and Ed Joyce back in the pavilion, Ian Bell was now joined by Paul Collingwood. On the first ball of the 18th over, Bell guided a Mitchell Johnson delivery to White, who was fielding at backward point. Bell was stranded halfway down the pitch when White’s ‘along the ground under-arm’  throw hit the stumps.
