MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings has breathed a sigh of relief as Ruturaj Gaikwad is all fit to play the first match against KKR. Gaikwad has cleared the fitness test and he is all clear to open with Devon Conway in the first match as well. And, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed to InsideSport that the youngster is all fit and he is practising in Surat well with others as well.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the IPL 2021

“Yes, Ruturaj is all fit. He has joined the squad and has begun practice. He is available for selection,” Viswanathan told InsideSport.

However, CSK has faced multiple crises ahead of its first match. Deepak Chahar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu all suffered injuries whereas Moeen Ali is yet to get his visa for India as well. But Ruturaj Gaikwad recovering from his wrist injury is definitely a great relief for CSK as he has played a key role in CSK’s fourth IPL title win. And, CSK has retained him for IPL 2022 as well.

However, he also gave an update about Deepak Chahar. “We don’t know about Deepak Chahar. He is at the NCA and recovering from the injury. Once the National Cricket Academy gives him the all-clear, only then he will be able to join the squad. But we don’t know when that will happen. We are yet to get any update from the NCA,” Kasi Viswanathan told again. “We have no update on Moeen Ali. He is still waiting for his visa and as soon as he gets that, he will board the flight. We are hopeful that he will be available for first match but it will depend on his visa.”
