Sachin Tendulkar Praises Wasim Jaffer For His Service to the Game

Wasim Jaffer who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Saturday has earned a lot of praises from the batting great Sachin Tendulkar. He amassed 19410 first-class runs which came at an average of 50.67. His contribution to domestic cricket was wonderful who also played for India in 31 Tests and scored 1944 runs at an average of 34.10.

“First of all I would like to thank the almighty Allah, who gave me the talent to play this beautiful game. I’d like to also thank my family—my parents and brothers for encouraging me to pursue the sport as a profession and my wife, who left a cosy life of England to create a lovely home for our children and me,” he said while announcing his retirement.

Moreover, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had also asked Wasim Jaffer to be their batting coach for the development of the game in its High-Performance Academy. He also helped Vidarbha win consecutive titles as well.

“He was a special player. What he has achieved as a player is fantastic. For any player to play for such a long time and perform consistently well is a testament to his commitment and dedication,” Sachin Tendulkar told Times of India.

Thank you to the BCCI, Mumbai Cricket Association and Vidarbha Cricket Association for giving me the opportunity to represent them,” he further shared.
