Former India player and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday has recalled a funny incident from his playing days. He revealed how a few of the Indian players had played a prank on the young Virat Kohli during his debut series in the national team.

Virat Kohli had made his India debut way back in August 2008 and he had revealed in 2017 that his senior teammates Yuvraj Singh, Munaf Patel, and Irfan Pathan had pranked on him by saying that youngsters who come into the Indian team have to seek blessings from Sachin Tendulkar by touching his feet during their first meeting at the dressing room as well. They tricked him as the young Kohli wanted to meet and talk to his idol Tendulkar and he shared it with the seniors too.

However, Kohli had also shared that he wanted to meet his idol so much that he did not even think whether his teammates were saying the truth or doing a prank on him. The India captain said that he fell at Tendulkar’s feet during the first meet at the India dressing room.

Meanwhile, confirming the same, Sachin Tendulkar also said that he was surprised when Kohli fell at his feet, not knowing what was going on. However, only after the two cricketers turned back and when they looked behind their shoulder, they got to know about the prank.

“I didn’t know what was happening. I asked him ‘what are you doing?’. Told him that there was no need for this and such things don’t happen. Then he got up and we looked at those guys, they started laughing,” Sachin Tendulkar said on YouTube show LegendsWithUnacademy.

Notably, Kohli had earlier shared this incident during his chat with sports presenter Gaurav Kapur on Breakfast with Champions as well.

“After getting selected, the initial two days the only thing I could think about is meeting Sachin in the dressing room in any way possible. And these people got wind of it because I had told that to someone,” he had said while stressing that it was Yuvraj, Munaf, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan who did this on him.
