Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar has been consistently facing some heat for more than a week now. A few days ago, a fan complained to the International Cricket Council (ICC), for Manjrekar being biased on air. He called Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni as ‘our watchdog behind the stumps’ and it irked Dhoni’s fans quite badly.
Recently, Manjrekar also got trolled for expressing his views about all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He called the 30-year-old a ‘bits and pieces’ player and mentioned that the latter should be limited to Test cricket only. Manjrekar said that he doesn’t like the southpaw and those words didn’t get down well with Jadeja.
Jadeja referred to the commentator’s comments as ‘verbal diarrhea’ and asked him to respect people with achievements. After a decent outing against Sri Lanka, the Indian all-rounder came out all guns blazing against New Zealand in the semi-final at the Old Trafford in Manchester. With the ball, he dismissed Henry Nicholls.
Thereafter, Jadeja played a brilliant knock of 77 runs that almost took India over the finishing line. Team India ended on the losing side and bowed out of the mega event in England and Wales. In a post-match show, Manjrekar admitted that Jadeja ripped him apart into ‘bits and pieces’ from all the counts.
On Friday, Manjrekar turned 54 and even on the auspicious occasion, twitterati didn’t shy away from trolling him. Even as wishes flowed in, the fans asked him to quit commentary. In the meantime, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has had enough of ‘assault to the ears’, something which can be related to commentary. They tweeted, “Let’s look at the brighter side. No more assault on the ears!”
Here is CSK’s tweet:
Let's look at the brighter side. No more assault on the ears! 😉

The fans believe that the message was indirectly targetting Manjrekar for his perpetual commentary. Subsequently, the supporters kept naming him in their replies.
Here is how the fans reacted:
