Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson recently proved that age is indeed just a number for him. In 2016 after the World T20, he decided to bid adieu to the international cricket, but on Sunday in the IPL 2018 final, he was adjudged as the player of the match for his batting exploits. Watson’s mind-boggling innings of 117* helped the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) register their third win in an IPL final.

Watson was asked about considering an international comeback in a media event in Dubai. He modestly replied that he is hoping to see the younger group getting enough chances. However, he added that he does not mind serving Australian cricket as a mentor. Commenting on different lines, he was asked about his take on the impositions that the ‘disgraced trio’ have faced.

The Australian cricketers, Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft are facing heavy bans imposed by Cricket Australia (CA) following their involvement in the ball tampering scandal recently in South Africa.

Talking about the trio, as per the quotes in Hindustan Times, Watson said, “It is an extreme penalty for what they did compare to the bans that have happened and the reprimands that have happened in the past. They’ve paid a heavy price, there is no question, and when they come back they will be doing everything they can to try and repay people for the mistakes they made.”

Talking about the newly appointed Australian head coach Justin Langer, the all-rounder said,  “He is certainly going to make sure the Aussies are on the right track.”
