During the 35th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Pune, Chennai Super Kings’ Shardul Thakur grabbed a fumbling catch in a bid to dismiss Brendon McCullum.
MS Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field. Chennai Super Kings made three changes to their playing eleven, bringing back Shardul Thakur and handing respective IPL debuts to Dhruv Shorey and David Willey. Faf du Plessis, Karn Sharma and KM Asif made way for them. Royal Challengers Bangalore also made three changes to their side. They brought in Parthiv Patel, AB de Villiers & Murugan Ashwin in place of Quinton de Kock, Manan Vohra & Washington Sundar.

Thakur, who was rested for the last two matches, almost dropped McCullum upon returning to the playing eleven. It happened on the second delivery of the second over when McCullum tried to charge down the track against Lungi Ngidi, who had opened the bowling alongside David Willey.
Absolutely out of shape while playing the shot, McCullum hit the ball in the air which was eventually taken by Thakur at mid-on. McCullum ended up scoring 5 (3) with the help of one four. Watch the full video:
