One of the finest pacers of his generation, Dale Steyn is expected to commence a new chapter in his career as he is touted to be roped in as the bowling coach by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Steyn, who called time on his career across formats on August 31 this year, will reportedly be working alongside head coach Tom Moody at the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.
Accoridng to the latest reports of Cricbuzz, the SRH has roped in Moody as their new head coach while talks are ongoing with Steyn to become the franchise’s bowling coach. A plethora of changes will be witnessed in the Hyderabad support staff ahead of the 15th edition of the T20 league.
Earlier, head coach Trevor Bayliss and batting coach Brad Haddin parted ways with SRH after the 2021 season. Even VVS Laxman has also left the role of a mentor at the franchise after being appointed as the director of the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Moody, who was SRH’s director of cricket last year, has now been appointed as the head coach.
There still seems to be no clarity on the status of CVC Capitals as one of the franchise owners in the IPL. While the company is hopeful of getting the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the board is yet to make an official announcement on the matter.
Accoridng to Cricbuzz’s report, a retired judge has been appointed by the BCCI for consultation on the matter. It has also been learned that even in a case where CVC Capitals go on to lose the Ahmedabad franchise, the team will not be given to the second-highest bidders.
In a case where the BCCI cancels CVC Capitals’ association with the league over their investments in betting businesses, the BCCI would need to roll out a fresh tender to invite new bids. In such a case, the plans of the 2022 edition of the league can also suffer a delay.
