A late rush in the Sri Lankan innings by the Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja helped India finish Day 4 on a high at Delhi. Sri Lanka started the day at 356 for 9 and reached as far as 373 before getting bundled out. At that point, the Indian team was leading by 163 runs and they were the happy dressing room going to the break.

India started their second innings pretty well as were 51 for 2 at Lunch with Vijay went out cheaply in the second innings, so did Rahane who was promoted to number 3 in the Indian second innings. But in the 2nd session, Indian batsmen ran through the Lankan bowling went into the tea with a score of 192 for 4. Shikhar Dhawan celebrated his 32nd birthday today scored a quick fire 67, with contributions from Pujara (49), Kohli (50) and Rohit Sharma (50*).

Sonn after coming to bat in the 3rd session, after Rohit completing fifty, Kohli invited Sri Lanka to bat with 410 to win. Sri Lanka started cautiously but then two wickets in the penultimate over before the end of day’s play from Ravindra Jadeja left Sri Lanka reeling at 31 for 3 at the end of the day’s play.

Angelo Mathews, the centurion in Sri Lanka’s first innings is still playing while skipper Dinesh Chandimal is waiting for his chance. Both the senior statesmen now have to ensure they play for a draw as it will not be less than a win for Sri Lanka.
