Team India’s Suryakumar Yadav has said that adapting to the situation was very important as India beat New Zealand by six wickets in the second T20I in Lucknow on Sunday. The match was a low-scoring one with the Indian bowlers doing quite well. Everyone chipped in with wickets as the Kiwis’ innings crumbled and they ended up with just 99 runs in their 20 overs as well. India’s chase was far from straightforward as none of the batters could manage to play their shots and the New Zealand bowlers applied good pressure too as well.

In the end, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya got India home with just one ball in hand and the final will now shift to Ahmedabad for the decider. The 32-year-old was adjudged the Man Of The Match for his steady knock of 26 not out from 31 balls as well. While speaking at the post-match presentation, as quoted by Cricbuzz, Suryakumar Yadav said that adapting to the situation was very important in the tricky chase as well.

The talented India batter also admitted that it was his mistake that led to Washington Sundar’s run out as a single which wasn’t on offer as well. Yadav also said that the wicket was challenging and they didn’t expect the ball to turn in the second innings that much also. Yadav also revealed that his pep talk with Hardik Pandya just before hitting the winning runs gave him a lot of confidence.

“It was my mistake, it was definitely not a run, I didn’t see where the ball was going. It was a challenging wicket. We didn’t think it’s turn this way in the second innings but it’s important to adapt. We just needed one hit in that over and it was very important to calm our nerves. Before we got the winning runs, he (Hardik) came and told me ‘you are going to finish on this ball’ and that gave me a lot of confidence,” Suryakumar Yadav concluded.
