Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt believes Ishan Kishan is in scintillating form and can pip Suryakumar Yadav to make his place in the playing XI during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman.

Ishan Kishan has been in amazing form since the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 in the UAE. He finished the league on high with a swashbuckling innings of 84 runs. He also scored a flamboyant fifty against England in the warm-up game to throw his hat in the ring.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav was going through a lean patch with the bat until the final league match of Mumbai Indians, where he scored 82 runs. His return in the first warm-up game against England wasn’t fruitful as he got out after scoring 8 runs.

Salman Butt urges Team India to go with Ishan Kishan in the playing XI keeping his sensational batting performances of late in mind.

“Suryakumar Yadav’s flow is not the same as what we saw in Sri Lanka. Even in the IPL, if we take out the one innings in the final match of the UAE leg, he did not play a fluent knock in any of the other matches,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.

“If concerns over his form remain, Ishan Kishan can replace him in the playing XI. He has been in scintillating form. I feel if India has to pick between Suryakumar and Ishan, they should go with the latter on the current form. He can play game-changing knocks.”

He further stressed how the inclusion of Ishan Kishan will keep the right-left combination intact as India’s top-three are all right-handers.

“If Kishan plays instead of Suryakumar Yadav, India will have two left-handers in the middle-order (Rishabh Pant being the other one), so it will also help the left-right combo. India’s top three are all right-handers. Down the order, there is Ravindra Jadeja as well, so there will be depth in the team as well,” Butt added.

India will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
