Team India registered yet another comprehensive win over Bangladesh as they defeated the visitors by an innings and 46 runs – their fourth consecutive innings victory in the historic day-night Test against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Indian fast bowlers once again picked all the 20 wickets in the match as India took the honors winning the series 2-0. As a result, they extended their lead over Australia at the top of the ICC World Test Championship with 360 points under their belt.
The hosts needed just 3 more wickets on Day 3 to seal the series win and Umesh Yadav did the job for his team as he completed another 5-wicket haul in home conditions. Mushfiqur Rahim was the lone warrior for Bangladesh as he played a gritty knock of 74, but it wasn’t enough for his team to even save the innings defeat.
Although they did a better job as compared to their first innings total it was not enough for them to save the match. Previously, batting first Bangladesh only managed to score 106 runs after Ishant Sharma to a 5-fer. No batsmen could resist the Indian fast bowlers as they came all guns blazing with two batsmen retired hurt forcing Bangladesh to take two concussion substitutes as well.
India, in reply, banked on Virat Kohli played the captain’s knock of 136 runs which helped India to take a huge lead of 243 runs in the first innings which was enough for them to take the game home by an innings and 46 runs.
Bangladesh was reduced to 13/4 in the second session fo Day 2 itself, but hen. Rahim added 69 runs for the 5th wicket before latter getting retired hurt due to hamstring injury and they closed the day at the score of 152/6. India had declared their innings at 347/9.
Here is how netizens reacted to India’s series win:
Four years ago, against South Africa, India's spinners took 61 wickets to 9 for the quicks. In this series, spin got but 5 (none in this test) vs 33 to pace. The times, they are a changin'!

India batted less than 90 overs( a whole day's play) in one innings. Bangladesh could bat barely 70 overs in two innings. India would not have got second new ball even after bowling out Bangladesh twice! Unbelievable domination by @imVkohli and his mates! #INDvBAN #PinkBall pic.twitter.com/3uu9X9nHwF
