In November 2015, the first-ever day-night Test match was played between two of the top teams in world cricket – Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval. However, newly-appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that captain Virat Kohli wants to play pink-ball Tests.
“I must say that Virat Kohli is agreeable to it. There are reports that he does not want to play day-night Tests which is not the fact. So once the captain of India is agreeable to it, life becomes a lot easier. We will see how we can push it. The game needs to go forward,” Sourav Ganguly said on Friday. “We all are thinking about this and we will do something about it. I am a firm believer in Day Night Tests. I don’t know when will that happen. But till the time I am around, I will be pushing for it,” Ganguly added.

Cricket Australia, on the other hand, wanted the Adelaide Test to become the permanent day-night fixture and they hope for India also agree to that but unfortunately, they didn’t during their most successful tour there. Under the current rules of International Cricket Council (ICC), the visiting team can deny the home board’s fixture requests but that can change later as well. India, who placed at the top of the ICC World Test Championship table with a whopping 240 points from 5 wins, are scheduled to play two test matches against Bangladesh next month.
