During Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand in 1993-94, former Pakistani captain, Waqar Younis, had put it a performance that is still remembered worth watching. Having gained an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series, Pakistan went on to tie the fourth ODI at Auckland.
Having won the toss, Saleem Malik, the then Pakistani captain, had won the toss and chose to bat. Due to a very disciplined brand of bowling from the opposition bowlers, Pakistan could only score 161-9 in 50 overs. With bowling figures of 10-0-24-4, Gavin Larsen was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers.
Younis’ seventh ODI five-wicket haul was instrumental in the hosts not able to score three runs from the last overs. He bowled Matthew Hart and Richard de Groen in the last over to complete a spell which read 9.4-1-30-6. He was adjourned the Man of the Match for the same.
