Former Indian opener turned cricket expert Wasim Jaffer has opined on Virat Kohli’s lean patch after yet another poor dismissal against Sri Lanka in the pink-ball Test in Bengaluru. He got ut on 23 and Wasim Jaffer claims that there is nothing wrong with his technique and it is just a lack of confidence.
While speaking to ESPNCricinfo on Sunday, here’s what Jaffer had to say about Virat Kohli’s form: “There is nothing like that (on whether there are flaws in Kohli’s technique). He doesn’t have enough runs under his belt and there is a lack of confidence. The kind of runs that we expect from Kohli is not seen. Once he gets to that hundred and he finds form, I am quite sure that we will get to see the old Virat Kohli.”

Meanwhile, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has played a stunning knock of 92 on the pitch of Bengaluru. Batting superbly with the tail, the talented youngster took on the attack to the Sri Lankan spinners and didn’t let them dominate as well. While Wasim Jaffer agreed that it was a top performance from Shreyas, he rated Rishabh Pant and others’ knocks higher than that of his as well.

“I don’t think so (on Shreyas Iyer’s knock being the best by an Indian in recent times). There are many knocks of Rishabh Pant that have been magnificent. But definitely if you see the context of this Test match and the direction in which it is going, then it is a great knock,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
