New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are currently playing a tri-series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. However, New Zealand locked horns with Bangladesh as the former registered a win by 48 runs on Wednesday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch as well. Meanwhile, the match caught attention as a fan pulled off a sensational catch in the stands during the match.

The incident happened in the 16th over of the New Zealand innings when Glenn Phillips hit Shakib Al Hasan for a six off the third delivery and a spectator took a stunning catch. However, he was sitting in the alley behind the cow corner boundary as well.

As far as the game is concerned, Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway helped the Kiwis as both the batters struck half-centuries helping the team win as well. Conway’s 40-ball 64 and Phillips’ man-of-the-match 60 runs off just 24 balls helped them post a massive total of 208. They restricted Bangladesh to 160. Shakib was the only player who smashed a 44-ball 70 that included a maximum and eight fours.

After the win, Tim Southee, New Zealand captain said: “When you get a score like that on the board, it’s always a nice feeling going into the 2nd innings. Solid batting performance with the way Devon played and Finn showing what he’s got at the top. Guptill coming in at an unusual position and contributing as well, and Glenn been outstanding for us over a period of time, he continues to grow as a young player. As a group we are getting better and better but there are ways to improve as well. We may have been sloppy in the field in the first 10 overs, but the bowlers set the tone. Hopefully when it gets a bit warmer it will improve [on the fielding], it’s something we pride ourselves on and certainly it hasn’t been up to the standard what we have set as a side and it is something we will be looking at the next few weeks. Pakistan are a very good T20 side and another opportunity to play a competitive match before a T20 World Cup.”
