In the game of cricket, the art of wicket-keeping requires a different set of skills and it makes the tasks even more difficult for the various glovemen all over the world. During the must-win ICC World Cup match for Pakistan against Afghanistan, Sarfaraz Ahmed had no idea of a potential catch that Ikram Ali Khil had played a scoop shot and Imad Wasim vented out at him for missing the chance.
Pakistani bowlers were bowling some right lines which helped them to take wickets at regular intervals while Afghanistan needed some momentum in the game and make a comeback in the game. After spending the suffiecient amount of time at the crease, the pressure was only mounting on Ikram Ali Khil for playing dot balls and the situation demanded him to cut loose.
On the fifth delivery of the 27th over, Ikram played a scoop shot but the ball brushed his shoulder and its reflection ended up ball going in the air and Sarfaraz was looking clueless to take the catch. The Pakistan skipper looked left and then right but had no idea about where the ball had gone, which eventually landed just beside him. Had he followed the trajectory of the ball correctly, Pakistan would have only managed to scalp another wicket.
Ikram didn’t make any use of lifeline as he was dismissed on the very next ball, but the whole incident was looking funny for the fans of both the team. However, Imad Wasim couldn’t control himself and lashed out at the skipper for his lack of game awareness. Eventually, Afghanistan only managed to score 227/9 in their quota of 50 overs.
