Quinton de Kock has been a pillar of the Mumbai Indians’ squad since being traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore. He does the wicketkeeping duties and well we giving his team a fast start. His contribution behind the wickets is very crucial.
However, he found himself at the wrong end of things when there was an opportunity to runout Chennai Super Kings opener Faf du Plessis.
Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have the fiercest rivalry in the history of the Indian Premier League. Both teams are facing each other in the 27th game of the Indian Premier League 2021. While CSK is sitting at the top of the points table going into this game, MI are placed fourth.

Coming back to the incident, Du Plessis and Moeen Ali steadied CSK’s ship after Trent Boult dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over. Moeen scored a quickfire fifty and was looking good to go big while Du Plessis was playing the second fiddle.
James Neesham came to bowl the 10th over. Du Plessis flicked the ball towards the deep region. He thought to take a quick double and took on Hardik Pandya’s throw. The South African looked to be trouble as Pandya’s throw was heading directly towards the stumps and could have caught him short. But it was De Kock’s misjudgment that gave Du Plessis a lifeline.

De Kock moved to the stumps to gather the ball but he flicked the bails with his gloves even before the ball arrived in his hands. The replays showed Du Plessis was inches short and had that not been for De Kock’s misjudgement, Du Plessis would have been back in the pavilion.
