In the first innings, he had dismissed Ollie Pope, who was the leading run-scorer for England. He scored 81 runs before becoming the victim of Shardul Thakur. He once again showed his class with the bat and scored yet another half-century. He smashed 60 off 72 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. With this, he became the sixth cricketer in the history of Test cricket to score the fifties in both innings of a Test match while batting at no.8.

Meanwhile, Team India set up a huge target of 368 for England to chase down and win the game in the second innings. In reply, England started well and they ended Day 4 with 77/0. But, on Day 5, Shardul Thakur provided a much-needed breakthrough for his side as well.

Shardul Thakur dismissed Rory Burns, who scored yet another fifty in the ongoing series. But, he couldn’t stay long as Shardul bowled a stunning delivery. To which Burns got a slight touch with his bat and Rishabh Pant took an easy catch behind the stumps.

On the other hand, former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria was not happy with the way India bowled in the final session of the fourth day at The Oval. Notably, they failed to take a wicket and now they have only the final day to dismiss them. He also slammed India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane for his poor show.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria said: “Virat Kohli and the bowlers need to sit down and have a really good plan for bowling on Day 5 and take wickets. England have a strong batting unit. India can only win the match if they bowl in the right areas because the wicket is really good for batting now, the ball is coming onto the bat, but they need to contain. This match is the decider of the series.”
