The Indian leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal made the South African batsmen dance on his fingers when he bagged a couple of wickets in the 20th over of the World Cup match at the Hampshire Bowl, Southampton. Chahal took two wickets of the settled batsmen in a single over because of which the match turned more in India’s favor. South African batsmen, Faf du Plessis, and Rassie Van Der Dussen were building a partnership when the Indian leggie brought them down to 80/4.

Chahal first bowled out Van der Dussen (25) and then put pressure with some drift in the ball. Du Plessis also missed the googly completely and ended up being bowled. The former was bowled round his legs, which was quite a demoralizing site for a batsman.

Here are the videos of the dismissals:

On Rassie’s dismissal, he telegraphed his intentions to reverse sweep quite early, but the drift takes the ball towards leg stump, and the revs on the ball helped it to end on the stumps. He had already planted his front foot, and can’t reach around at the ball. On Faf’s dismissal, the Proteas skipper went forward but didn’t read the googly, and the ball sneaks straight through the gap between bat and pad.

Earlier in the game, the South African skipper had won the toss and decided to bat first in the cloudy conditions. The Proteas lost both their openers Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla inside the first 6 overs itself owing to a brilliant bowling display by the fiery pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

After those dismissals, Du Plessis and Van der Dussen started building a partnership and they even added 54 runs for the third wicket, but all that effort went in vain after the 20th over of Chahal as he got the wicket of both the batsman.
