After all the controversy surrounding AB de Villiers and the South African selectors, South Africa has now reeling quite low with three losses out of three and their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 seems to be in some serious doubt. As they look to keep their hopes alive, they face a rampant West Indies, who have already given a strong message to most of the teams that they are now looking for victories after their performances against Pakistan and Australia.
With both teams are scheduled to lock horns with each other at the Rose Bowl, West Indies enter the game as the slight favorites citing South Africa’s woes on and off the field. With Dale Steyn ruled out of the tournament and Lungi Ngidi getting injured, the Proteas are looking to overturn the rut through their famed batting unit led by Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock.
The South Africans will surely be tested with a barrage of short balls led by Andre Russell and Oshane Thomas, who has come off his own this World Cup. Adding the likes of Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer to the equation makes the game becomes even more exciting with two valuable points hanging in the balance. Here are some of the predictions for the game:
Tabraiz Shamsi will be expected to be dropped as the Windies do have a plethora of southpaws and his below-par performance against India last week can be the other reason. One of Dwaine Pretorius or Beuran Hendricks will be getting into the playing XI while the batting unit should remain unchanged in spite of a no-show against India.

Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, and Rassie van der Dussen will be looking make a lot more of their form by converting their starts into big ones. Apart from that., even JP Duminy hasn’t been in any form in recent times and could drop out for Aiden Markram, who was one of the top run-scorers in the recently concluded England One Day Cup 2019 for Hampshire.
Probable XI: Quinon de Kock(WK), Hasim Amla, Faf du Plessis (C), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, JP Duminy/ Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir and Beuran Hendricks/ Dwaine Pretorius.
The Windies might not be considering making any changes to their squad after running the Australians close earlier in the week. In Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis, they possess two of the most explosive openers along with the in-form Shai Hope provides the calmness required in an otherwise dominant West Indies batting unit. Pooran and Hetmyer will be playing a crucial role along with Russell, Holder, and Brathwaithe provide the balance with their all-around abilities.
While Ashley Nurse should keep his place in the side regardless of the number of right-handers in the opposition, Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell will once again be key in their plight to bounce out the Proteas.
Probable XI: Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope(WK), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder (C), Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Oshane Thomas, and Sheldon Cottrell.
