After rain washing out the first ODI of the three-match series in Guyana, India and West Indies will now be locking horns with each other at the Queen’s Park Oval for the second ODI. Both teams will be looking to start on the attack after a washed-out opening encounter. Interestingly, Chris Gayle has been ignored for the Test series, so the last two ODIs will become the last two international games for him.
Weather looks a lot better and the players and fans can expect a complete match. last ODI played at this venue was between West Indies and India in 2017. The visitors registered an easy win. The Test here last year between West Indies and Sri Lanka saw both spinners and pacers finding assistance and that’s what both the hosts and India will hope.
Here are some of the predictions for the game:
The West Indies team management expected to field the unchanged XI. Gayle did a u-turn on his retirement and with him so close to Lara’s record, it’s unlikely West Indies will make a change to the opening combination. Even their bowling attack expected to remain intact with Sheldon Cottrell leading it.
Probable XI: Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, Shai Hope(w), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Jason Holder(c), Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Kemar Roach.
If there is some assistance for the tweakers, India will look to unite the two spinners by bringing in Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Khaleel Ahmed. However, the three fast bowlers and two spinners balance – which played in the first game – gives the side a much better balance and Virat Kohli and his men might just overlook the wrist-spinner once again.
Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, K Khaleel Ahmed
Fantasy XI Prediction
Chris Gayle (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Evin Lewis, Virat Kohli, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Jason Holder, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Sheldon Cottrell.
