Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are all set to feature in the India ‘A’ tour of England ahead of the highly anticipated five-Test series against Ben Stokes’ England side. According to The Indian Express, the BCCI selectors have finalised a 14-member squad for the opening match of the tour, which is scheduled to begin on May 30, just five days after the initially planned IPL 2025 final on May 25.

However, due to the recent IPL rescheduling caused by cross-border tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack, the final will now be held on June 3. With Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad already out of playoff contention, Jaiswal and Kishan, who represent these franchises respectively, are free to join the India ‘A’ contingent.

The squad also features names like Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Tanush Kotian, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, and Manav Suthar. The report indicates that the selectors view Khaleel and Kamboj as potential hold-up bowlers in the mould of Ishant Sharma — players who can ease the workload on the senior pace trio of Bumrah, Siraj, and Shami. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are likely to be included in the senior team setup.

Manav Suthar, a promising left-arm spinner, is reportedly being developed into a future all-rounder — a valuable asset considering India’s evolving Test dynamics.
Notably, Sarfaraz Khan, who missed out on opportunities during the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is expected to be part of the main Test squad instead of the India ‘A’ team. Rajat Patidar, on the other hand, has been ruled out due to a finger injury.

After the first game, other players such as Shubman Gill (who is also being discussed as a potential captain), Sai Sudharsan, and Washington Sundar will join the setup. The build-up to the first Test, beginning June 20 at Headingley, will also include a behind-closed-doors intra-squad fixture, with no video access permitted, allowing the team management to assess combinations in privacy.
