Twitter Reactions: Cricketers wishes International Women’s Day in their style

Today, the 8th March 2018, is the International Women’s Day. The International Women’s day is celebrated every year on 8th March. Today on this occasion, cricketers are spreading best wishes for women through the different ways.

Virat Kohli

While Indian skipper Virat Kohli posted a special video message through his official Instagram account, former Indian attacking opening batsman Virender Sehwag shared two great women’s stories. Also, other Indian cricketers wish the day in their own style.

Talking about the Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s video message, he captioned the video, “Tag the extraordinary woman in your life who is #BetterThanEqual” and tagged Anushka Sharma, the Bollywood actress and his wife.

In his video, Virat said, “Men and woman aren’t equal. I really wish we were. Honestly, the fact is, it’s easier to be one than the other. Sexual harassment, discrimination, sexism, domestic abuse and threats of violence…and the list goes on. Despite all of this, women rise and shine in all walks of life. Still, think they’re equal? No, they’re better than equal. To all the woman all around the world, I wish you all a very happy Women’s Day.”

Meanwhile, former Indian attacking opener Virender Sehwag shared two great inspirational brief stories through his official Twitter account. One is about 19-year old Zainab and another one is about 9-year old Muskaan.

Sehwag shared the Zainab story as “Once she worked as a child labourer and used to stitch footballs to help her parents, now 19-year-old Zainab has transformed herself into an activist committed to the cause of children’s education. Every day is #WomensDay !”

Sharing the Muskaan story, Sehwag posted, “9 year old Muskaan runs a library in one of Bhopal’s poorest slum, she started with 121 books. She is an inspiration. Happy women’s day !”

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also wishes the Happy Women’s Day through his official Twitter account, where he posted, “To all the women – you’re unique, you’re special, and you’re empowering! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Let’s celebrate this #womensday by celebrating the diversity of women. Happy women’s day!”

While Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh wishes the day along with the images of his real-life women powers, another Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin posted a video message through the official Twitter account of his new IPL team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Indian pacer Umesh Yadav also wishes the day.

On the other hand, incidentally, today is the 29th birthday of Indian women cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur. BCCI Women wishes her birthday through their official Twitter account.
