However, there is another situation which he more disheartening than a golden duck to score a diamond duck, a scenario where a batsman is ruled out without even facing a single ball. Bangladesh hosted a Tri-series in 1998 as Silver Jubilee Independence Cup involving the neighboring countries India and Pakistan. In the inaugural match of the tournament, India was facing the hosts at Dhaka when a unique thing occurred during India’s chase. While chasing a target of 191, Team India lost their opening batsman, Nvajot Singh Sidhu in the opening over of the game.

Sidhu’s dismissal was a result of the bad communication between Sidhu and his opening partner Sourav Ganguly which resulted in Sidhu getting run-out without even facing a single ball. However, a skipper’s knock from M Azharuddin(84) and a half-century from Sachin Tendulkar ensured that India going past the winning line with 4 wickets in hand.
