Earlier Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, had won the toss and chose to field. Kings XI Punjab made two changes to their middle order, bringing in Yuvraj Singh and Manoj Tiwary in place of Karun Nair and Mayank Agarwal. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians made a solitary change into their playing eleven, bringing in Kieron Pollard in place of JP Duminy.

Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav brought his form to his home ground, scoring 21 runs off the third over of the innings bowled by Ankit Rajpoot. As a result of which, the hosts had scored 37 runs in three overs.

Tye was introduced into the attack as the first change bowler in the fourth over. On his first delivery, he bowled a knuckle delivery which went right through the defenses of Evin Lewis (9). Watch the video:

Ishan Kishan, who came in to bat at No. 3, hit a four and a couple of sixes off Mohit Sharma in the following over to bring back his team on track. However, in the next over, Tye picked up a couple of wickets to further dent the Indians. On the third delivery of the last over of the powerplay, Kishan dragged a delivery from outside the off-stump and hit it without any timing to Marcus Stoinis at mid-on. He ended up scoring 20 (12) with the help of one four and two sixes. Watch the video:
