No bowler likes the sight of an umpire not ruling a decision in his favour. Many times, umpires are at the wrong end of a decision as far as a bowling team in concerned. Bowlers tend to show their frustration in such situations.

An appeal is the act of a player on the fielding team asking an umpire for a decision regarding whether a batsman is out or not. The two most involved individuals during an appeal are the bowler and the wicket-keeper for they have watched the ball from the best possible angle. Furthermore, what runs are for batsmen, wickets are for bowlers. So, the desperation in by default.
