The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a platform for the stalwarts of the game to come together and showcase their talent. The IPL started in 2008 and in 2021 is one of the most valuable competitions in the cricketing fraternity. Eight franchises joined this league in the first season. There have been a few changes to the number of teams over the years, but eight teams participated in IPL 2021 as well.

The eight teams are – Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Generally, the star players make enough money in the IPL to live a comfortable life outside the pitch. However, quite a few star cricketers of the league have also tried their hand in another profession.

Let us have a look at the six current IPL star cricketers who have achieved success in other professions as well in their cricketing careers.

#1 Dinesh Karthik – Commentator

The veteran Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Dinesh Karthik plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL. He was the captain of the team last year, but midway through IPL 2020, Karthik decided to step down and handed over the team’s reins to English batsman Eoin Morgan. Karthik played in the first phase of IPL 2021 and will be playing in the second phase of IPL 2021 as well. In the meantime, Karthik has been doing a phenomenal job as a commentator for Sky Sports in England.

#2 Harbhajan Singh – Commentator

Another player from the Kolkata Knight Riders to appear on this list is Harbhajan Singh. He was bought by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2021. He has been away from the Indian cricket team for quite some time. In the other international matches, he has worked as a commentator in Hindi and English languages.

#3 Pat Cummins – Vlogger

Pat Cummins is the third player From the KKR to feature in the list. Cummins is one of the highest-paid star players in the IPL. The all-rounder has often been seen using his free time, making videos and posting them on his YouTube channel. Pat is one of the top vloggers in the cricket world right now.

#4 Virat Kohli – Entrepreneur

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, Virat Kohli is a top entrepreneur as well. He has a few stakes in the FC Goa club that participates in the Indian Super League. Kohli has also made investments in fashion brand Wrogn and fitness center chain Chisel Fitness. Apart from that, Kohli is also a shareholder of a social networking start-up Sports Convo.

#5 MS Dhoni – Entrepreneur

Another IPL team captain who is a successful entrepreneur is MS Dhoni. The wicket-keeper batsman leads the Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL. Dhoni has stakes in the Sports Fit fitness center chain, ISL club Chennaiyin FC, lifestyle brand Seven and sports marketing and management firm Rhiti Sports.

#6 Chris Gayle – Entrepreneur

Chris Gayle has always been known as an entrepreneur and also he appears in music videos. The Jamaican all-rounder is a member of the Punjab Kings squad in the IPL. Gayle recently opened a sports bar called Triple Century 333 and a restaurant in Jamaica.Â
