#7 Rahul Dravid
Another Indian stalwart, Rahul Dravid, who is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), was favorite to replace Shastri as India’s head coach. Dravid was appointed India’s head coach during the Sri Lanka tour where he served as the head coach for three T20Is and ODIs each earlier this year. However, recent reports opine that Dravid has no desire to take up the role and is looking to continue in the capacity of the NCA head.

#8 VVS Laxman
Some of the reports suggest that apart from Anil Kumble, BCCI has approached former Indian cricketer, VVS Laxman fit the criteria perfectly as they both have played 100 plus Tests and have had experience in the coaching department.
Informing the same, one of the sources of PTI in BCCI said, “Anil Kumble’s exit needs course correction. The manner in which the CoA succumbed to the pressure of Kohli and removed him, wasn’t the best example set. However it also depends on whether Kumble or Laxman are ready to apply for the job.”
