Afghanistan spinner, Rashid Khan, might only be 19 years old, but, he has already left an impression in international cricket. Khan, who made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2015, has played 29 ODIs till date. He has picked up 63 wickets at an astounding average of 14.74, an economy rate of 3.97 and a strike rate of 22.2.
He has also registered two five-wicket hauls in ODI cricket, the latest of which came against West Indies earlier this year at St Lucia. Figures of 8.4-1-18-7 were also his best bowling figures in ODIs. It is also the best bowling figures by a bowler from an associate nation.
In what the first of the three-match ODI series, Afghanistan’s captain, Asghar Stanikzai, had won the toss and chose to bat. The visitors managed to score 212-6 in 50 overs. Chasing a modest target, West Indies were expected to win the match. But, Rashid Khan had other plans.
