The Indian cricket team has had some fine skippers across its history.  The list includes players like Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli.   The Indian commentator found it very difficult to pick the best out of them as there was a lot of difference in their style of leading the national side.

ICC’s social media handle shared a clip of the same. In the clip, Harsha Bhogle was asked to pick the best skipper in the history of Indian cricket. Bhogle is replying with India is quite honored to have some of the best captains in the last 2 decades.

Harsha Bhogle believes that just like Allan Border completely changed the way Australia played cricket, Saurav Ganguly did the same for India. According to Bhogle, Rahul Dravid also did an amazing job as a captain in his two years at the helm. It was followed by fellow other captains in Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni, and now Virat Kohli.

“India has been very blessed with captains in the last 20 years. Coming out of that whole match-fixing phase, when you wanted a dynamic and in-your-face captain, you had a Ganguly. Not much talked about, Rahul Dravid’s record for two years as captain was excellent.”

“Then you had, during that terrible Sydney Test match, Anil Kumble’s strong presence there. Then Dhoni, now Kohli. We have actually been lucky. I think in many ways as the Aussies talk about Allan Border as someone who changed their cricket, we talk about Sourav Ganguly,” Harsha Bhogle said.
