On Tuesday, England Test skipper Joe Root revealed how his teammates have sledged him on a number of occasions. Speaking with BCC Radio 1 in an interview, Root shared how his teammates compare him with Ellen DeGeneres.

Root explains why people call the English skipper with that name. He agrees with them saying friends say that as they felt I resemble her. “I’ve been called Ellen DeGeneres on a number of occasions over the course of my career. I think there’s a likeness there,”  Root said.

During the interview, the 29-year-old also picked ”Mardy Bum” by the Arctic Monkeys and ”She Moves In Her Own Way” by the Kooks as his opening two ”Mancave Anthems” as his favorite songs from his growing up years.

Joe Root is the star for the England national cricket team. He is also an ambassador of the game and a national hero winning the ICC World Cup in 2019. he player has been actively participating in spreading awareness about the CoronaVirus among his fellow citizens. HE addressed an open letter addressed to the British public asking the citizens to work together right now and fight the pandemic.

Root wrote, “But over the last few weeks, I’m sure that many of you, like us, have experienced intense emotions. Perhaps you have lost a loved one, fear for someone who is ill.” He added, “Perhaps you are worried about families and friends and are anxious about what the future holds. Never has teamwork been more important in our society.”
