The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has affected the world severely. It has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown and travel restrictions applied to contain the spread of the virus.  All Cricketing events have suffered a  poor fate with many international and domestic matches canceled.  English all-rounder and World Cup winner Moeen Ali gave his opinion on ECB’s dream project ‘THE HUNDRED’.

Moeen Ali feels the inaugural edition of ‘The Hundred’ should be delayed because of the Corona Virus pandemic. He feels the tournament should be postponed for a year as there is no point in launching the tournament now.

Moeen Ali said, “It is better for it to be delayed. As players, we want the Hundred played with all the best players around the world available to come and play so it makes more sense that way.”

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement last week banning all forms of professional cricket until 1st July. Birmingham Phoenix skipper Moeen Ali said that the Hundred should have a mini-draft to add more players in the tournament that will make it stronger for next year.

“If we can get other international players who were not available this year to make the Hundred even stronger for next year through a mini-draft then we an attract a new audience to come and watch cricket,” he added.

The Hundred, as the name suggests is a 100 ball tournament that was ideated by the English Cricket Board.  Moeen Ali wants the ECB to shift the tournament to 2021 due to the pandemic outbreak of the Corona Virus.

All the sporting events have been halted as a safety measure to avoid mass gathering of crowds at a certain place. The cricketing calendar has suffered because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 Virus. Originated in China, the virus has affected more than 3,221,617 people so far. It is also responsible for killing over 228,263 lives globally.
