Indian cricket has seen several big cricketers, for whom fans are crazy. From Sunil Gavaskar to Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni to Virat Kohli, fans have decided their personal favorite over the time. Every player in this elite list has a different approach towards their fans and media.

But MS Dhoni is quite different to the others, who has kept media away from him for most of the time at the international arena. No one exactly knows what Mahi thinks or what can be the next step by him during his captaincy tenure.

Once, he his quotation was misinterpreted after an interview with ESPN Cricinfo, where he opted the challenges he faced while managing the older players. His statements were shown on the television with several twists.

Another horrible incident came in 2013 when the spot-fixing saga left everyone stunned in the Indian cricket. Media blamed Dhoni for involvement in the spot-fixing. Dhoni was very unhappy with these comments and always tried to figure out what to reply or not ever since.

Rajdeep Sardesai launched his book ‘Democracy XI: The Great Indian Cricket Story’, where he mentioned a comment from Dhoni, which he once said during a press conference.

Sardesai wrote, “That is where I really have to draw the line. Please criticize me but how can you accuse me of something like fixing a cricket game after all that the game has given me. For media persons to say things like “there can be no smoke without fire” is crazy. That is why I don’t want to even talk to the media. You can call it my “satyagraha” against the media. I don’t want to speak when I do badly. I won’t speak when I do well either, the media can write what they wish.”

Indian stumper invited an Australian journalist to the podium after India’s defeat in 2016 World T20 semi-final, who asked Dhoni about his retirement plan. Mahi replied, “If you were an Indian, then maybe I would have asked you whether you have a son or a brother who is a wicketkeeper and can take my place.”

That’s how Journalist Sardesai explained Dhoni’s hide and seek game with media.
