Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has named Arjun Tendulkar for the Colts team which will play against Karnataka Sporting Association. Tendulkar Jr. will be playing his next match against Payyade Sports Club starting November 11. He will be playing under the leadership of Pranav Menon who is leading the 15-member MCA Colts squad.
The 18-year-old recently grabbed eyeballs when he bowled to Team India batsmen before the first ODI at Wankhede against New Zealand. He helped Virat Kohli & Co. and others to prepare for left-arm seamer Trent Boult.
Son of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar played his last match against Baroda in Under-19 Vinoo Mankad trophy. Though Tendulkar Jr. could not impress in the previous fixtures as he scored just 2 runs with the bat and picked up a wicket for 21 runs in his 2-over spell. In another game against Saurashtra, he remained wicket-less in a spell of 4 overs and conceeded 41 runs.
Virat was impressed with Arjun’s speed and also have a few tips to him. India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun too can be seen giving a few tips to Arjun in a Star Sports video.
According to Times of India, an MCA official said, “He (Arjun Tendulkar) was included in the Mumbai under-19 team after doing well in the trial matches. It’s unfair to target him just because he’s the son of a famous father.”
