Cricket Australia’s (CA) interim CEO Nick Hockley has said that fans will be allowed inside stadiums whenever the T20 World Cup will be held in Australia. The fate of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to commence in October, is still undecided to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis worldwide.

The ICC has not managed to take a final call on the marquee event earlier this month, saying it wants to take a ‘right’ decision as it ‘gets only one chance to make’ it.

Hockley reckons that organizing the T29 World Cup will be a big challenge with 15 teams taking part but he feels that seems a big challenge in this time but added that people will be allowed to watch the matches live whenever it is held.

As per the quotes in cricket.com.au., interim CA chief said, “The reality is, and we’ve got much more understanding about this in recent weeks, is crowds are most likely to come back before international travel. Our biggest challenge is getting 15 teams into the country. If I compare it with the prospect of a bilateral tour, you’re talking about bringing one team in and then playing individual matches.”

Talking about his appointment as interim CEO after Kevin Roberts’s resignation following months of criticism over his leadership during the Covid-19 shutdown, Hockley said he considers this as a massive responsibility and opportunity.

The CA chief explained, “I’ve had very mixed emotions. I was very shocked to be asked. I didn’t see it coming at all, so I probably haven’t had time yet to process it. I feel very sad for Kev (Roberts). On the other hand, I feel this is a massive privilege to be asked, it’s a massive responsibility and a massive opportunity even if it’s only for the next few months.”
