AB de Villiers Feels Lockdown Came At Right Time For Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have been known for sharing great camaraderie on and off the field and the former Proteas skipper recently showered praises on the Indian skipper during a chat with the veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz. AB de Villiers reckons that the break from the high-intensity action due to lockdown can be a huge blessing in disguise for Kohli as it will help him refresh and go after the bowlers again.

Talking to Bhogle, De Villiers said, “Maybe this lockdown has come in at a good time for him (Kohli) where he can really refresh, reset the boundaries again and go again. I’m expecting big things from him in the next three to five years.”

De Villiers and Virat have been involved in two double-century partnerships in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Talking about his camaraderie with his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, ABD said that Kohli is more reliable than him as a batsman.

AB de Villiers said, “Virat… I would say is more reliable. He is the guy you would want for 15 overs and I would say I’m maybe in a better way where I can change the game quickly. So together we are quite a nice combo.”

De Villiers also went on to pick his all-time IPL XI and the South Africa stalwart has managed to pick a formidable team. He named Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma as openers and then he picked Virat at the number three position.

The 36-year-old then gave three options for the no.4 slot and mentioned himself along with Kane Williamson and Steve Smith. He chose MS Dhoni to lead the team and picked Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja as the two all-rounders.
