In the ongoing second T20I between India and New Zealand at Rajkot, Martin Guptill provided the visitors with a much-required flying start. Guptill, who scored a paltry 53 runs in the three ODIs at an average of 17.66 and a strike rate of 74.64 and even missed out in the first T20I, was due on a big innings.
New Zealand’s opening pair in Guptill and Colin Munro proved Kane Williamson’s decision of winning the toss and opting to bat to be apt as the duo shared a 105-run partnership in 66 balls.
When Virat Kohli introduced spin for the first time in the fourth over in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal, Guptill greeted him with a six, four and six off consecutive deliveries. He ended up scoring 45 (41) with the help of three fours and three sixes.
