Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has recently disclosed that he would be teaming up with the Tubelight director for a film titled ’83, based on the legendary Cricket World Cup win of Team India.

Many cricketers like Kapil Dev, SS Madanlal, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, , Dilip Vengsarkar among others were present at the event. If MS Dhoni was one of the best biopics, then this film is no different in this matter. And now there’s more reason for this enthusiasm. Reliance Entertainment, the producers have tweeted that the film will hit the theatres on April 5, 2019. With no films announced around that week yet, we’re sure the producers must be planning something big to give Box Office a run for its money.

Like we said earlier 83 is indirectly the biopic of Kapil Dev as it will give a candid look into his life when he as a newbie who led the India team, the most unlikely of all, to win the World Cup in 1983. With Ranveer portraying the role of Kapil Dev, it’s just going to be an added bonus.

In the meantime, The rest of the cast is yet to be decided by the producers. In a press statement, Kabir Khan had said, “I was a young schoolboy when I watched India win the 1983 Cricket World Cup I had no idea that from that day onwards Cricket in India will change forever.  As a filmmaker, for me, the journey to that win, filled with raw energy and sheer passion of that young Indian team, is probably one of the most exciting stories I have worked on. And it’s great to have Ranveer come on board to play Kapil Dev, as honestly, I could see no one else for the role, ever since I started finalizing the script.”
