Ravichandran Ashwin came to Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the trade window and the move has been praised by the likes of captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting, the veteran spinner will be bringing a much-needed balance to the side. Ashwin’s credentials as an all-rounder have always been valuable to his teams in the past and the off-spinner was on-spot in practice with Delhi Capitals as seen in a video posted by the team on social media.

Captioned video in when Ashwin can be seen foxing a batsman into top-edging a ball and then taking a simple caught-and-bowled chance to complete the dismissal on the same on Twitter, Delhi Capitals wrote: “Caught in the Spin King’s web”.

Ashwin has scalped as many as 125 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the 139 games he had played at a phenomenal economy of 6.79 runs per over. He was traded from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), where he led the team in the last two seasons. Having played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rising Pune Supergiant in the past, Ashwin has been in the wickets consistently over the past few seasons.

Ravichandran Ashwin had scalped 15 wickets in IPL 2019 for Punjab and got 10 each in 2018, 2016, and 2015, having missed the 2017 season due to injury.

Delhi finished at the third position in the IPL 2019 points table and have added the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Anrich Nortje to their squad this season besides Ashwin. Their opening match for IPL 2020 will be against KXIP on September 20 in Dubai followed by the game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on September 25 also in Dubai.

IPL 2020 begins on September 19 when defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will be locking horns with three-time champions CSK in Abu Dhabi.
