The fiery Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Starc gave warning to the English spinner, Adil Rashid to get back in his crease instead of running him out at the non-striker’s end in the 49th over of the English innings in the 3rd ODI against Australia on Wednesday. Rashid had smashed Starc for six two balls before the incident.

Rashid was out of his crease at the non-striker’s end, as England was looking to score as many as runs as possible at the end of their innings. Starc, who could have knocked off Rashid’s bails to ‘Mankad’ him out, did not. Instead, he decided not to bowl and asked Rashid to stay in his crease.

Here is the video of the same:

The third ODI saw plenty of drama as Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell produced magnificent centuries to help Australians register a series win from the jaws of defeat against Eoin Morgan and his men. The image of the warning incident also went viral on social media and one of the users tagged Indian off-spinner R Ashwin and asked him to ‘play the game’ in that manner.

The fan took to social media to share the image of the incident between Adil Rashid and Mitchell Starc and wrote, “Please learn something @ashwinravi99. This is how you play the game. #ENGvAUS.”

It wasn’t for the first time that a fan had questioned Ashwin’s spirit of the game. The latter responded to the fan in style as he wrote: “I believe in fighting the good fight but wait till the day after and I will get back to you on this. I would like to give a day to myself.”

Ashwin was released by KXIP ahead of IPL 2020 as he will now be playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2020. However, before leaving for UAE, DC coach Ricky Ponting opined that he would have a discussion with Ashwin as he is against the idea of mankading.

Ponting had said, “I’ll be having a chat with him about (Mankading), that’s the first thing I’ll do. That is going to be a hard conversation I will have with him. I think, even him, looking back now, probably he’d say it was within the rules and he’s right to do it. But this is not within the spirit of the game, not in the way I want, at least with the Delhi Capitals anyway.”
