The flamboyant Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder, Hardik Pandya smashed a couple of huge sixes off the bowling of  Ravindra Jadeja during the tournament opener of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 between MI and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Hardikonce again gave the testimony why he is one of the scariest batsmen against spinners. And, he displayed that not once but twice when he caught two sixes in the 12th over of the first innings bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.

Earlier in the game, MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first citing the batting strength they had. MI started off well as they amassed 51 runs in the powerplay bit they also lost crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock. After their dismissal, Surya Kumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary 44 runs for the third wicket, before Yadav’s dismissal in the 11th over.

However, in the very next over, Hardik tonked Jadeja for huge sixes. On the penultimate, Pandya mis-timed his slog sweep, and the fielder first ran in and then back, as he misjudged teh ball and it went for six. On teh very next ball, Hardik tonked the ball long as the fielder had no chance at square leg. Jadeja delivered a short of a length delivery at middle stump and Hardik got into deep in the crease and carted the ball it off the back foot.

In the next over of the Jadeja, he got revenge as he not only dismissed Hardik but also got the wicket of Saurabh Tiwary who was looking good in the middle. After those dismissals, MI never managed to get back in the game as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals owing to some brilliant bowling by Lungi Ngidi, Deepak Chahar, and Sam Curran.

In the end, Mumbai Indians only managed to reach a total of 162/9 in their quota of 20 overs.
