David Warner Supasses The 5000-run Mark, Beats Virat Kohli

Whenever there will be a ‘Hall of Fame’, of the Indian Premier League (IPL), David Warner will be one of the foremost names to enter that elite list. Recently, the southpaw has now added another feather to his already illustrious cap during his innings against Kolkata Knight Riders as he became the first overseas batsmen and fourth overall to breach the tally of 5000-run mark in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Coming into the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Warner needed just 13 runs to register his name in the history books by breaching the 5000-run mark. He not only became the first foreign player to do so but also the fastest-ever to do so in the history of the cash-rich league, which he rightfully achieved.

Warner has surpassed the milestone in a mere 134 innings, as compared to the previous record-holder, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, Virat Kohli, who had achieved the feat in 157 innings.

As far as batsmen with the most runs in IPL is concerned, Virat Kohli is leading the charts with teh tally of 5759 runs in 184 matches, followed by Suresh Raina (5368 runs in 193 matches), Rohit Sharma (5114 runs in 195 matches), and then David Warner.

In terms of the fewest number of balls taken to score 5000 runs in IPL, Warner has taken just 3554 balls followed by Suresh Raina (3619 ), Rohit Sharma (3817), and Virat Kohli (3827).

Meanwhile, David Warner, who came in to bat at No.4 against KKR, has a task on his hands, with SRH needing 47 runs off the last 24 balls.
