Dwayne Bravo played 6 games for CSK in this edition and he scalped six wicket as well. His absence was felt in the game against Delhi Capitals as CSK missed their death-bowling specialist when the opposition needed 17 runs in the final over. Dhoni went to Ravindra Jadeja but the move backfired as Axar Patel helped to get over the line with 3 sixes against the left-arm spinner.

CSK started their campaign with some njury concerns and pull-outs, still they didn’t opt for superstar players like Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh.

In Bravo’s absence, CSK played Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood against RR and the last year’s Purple Cap holder Imran Tahir is still warming the bench. CSK have not played Tahir even in a single game this campaign as MS Dhoni pointed out how their team combination has made it difficult for them to include the champion leg-spinner.
