In the 53rd of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be locking horns with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Sunday. The five consecutive wins for KXIP has helped them to the fourth position in the points table after languishing in the bottom position after the first seven games.

KXIP looked like a side reborn in the past couple of weeks with both batsmen and bowlers coming out with performances more often than not. However, the bowlers failed to defend the daunting target of 186 runs in the last game against RR. KXIP will look to iron out all their deficiencies in their last match of the league stage.

Despite the fact that CSK is already out of contention to reach the playoffs but they would look to complete the hat-trick of wins by defeating KXIP in Abu Dhabi. MS Dhoni and his men are currently on a winning spree after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Aiming to end their gloomy campaign on a positive note, CSK will be rooting for another victory against KXIP on Sunday with an unchanged XI.

Dhoni could consider playing an extra quickly in place of a third spinner in order to negate the unfavorable match-up against the series of southpaws in the KXIP line-up. If they decide to remove the extra spinner, Shardul Thakur will be expected to play in place of Karn Sharma.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma/Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi

KL Rahul strongly defended his bowlers after the defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR), pointing his finger to the onset of heavy dew that messed with their game plan of attacking with two wrist spinners. Despite registering a win in the previous fixture, the same XI should go into the game where everything will be on the line for them.

Probable XI: KL Rahul, Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh
