The veteran Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday was seen donning the new retro jersey of the Indian cricket team and termed it as ‘renewed motivation’ ahead of the much-awaited series for Australia. Team India will be wearing the navy blue colored kit for the limited-overs series against Australia, which is inspired by India’s jersey during the 1992 World Cup.
Shikhar Dhawan took to his official Twitter handle to share his picture donning the new retro jersey with MPL Sports as the new kit sponsor and wrote, “New Jersey, renewed motivation. Ready to go.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had named Mobile Premier League’s sports merchandise brand MPL Sports as Team India’s official kit sponsor for a three-year period. In a statement regarding the same, BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly had said, “We look forward to MPL Sports adding a new chapter to the team’s kit, and bring official BCCI licensed merchandise within easy and convenient reach for the billion-plus fans who cheer for Team India.”

As part of a three-year deal, MPL Sports designed and manufactured jerseys will be worn by men’s, women’s, and the Under-19 Indian cricket teams until 2023. Earlier, the Indian team had made customized the PPE kits, in which the Men in Blue traveled to Australia, in similar color tone with shoulder stripes visible there as well.
India’s tour of Australia is scheduled to be commencing with the 1st ODI in Sydney on November 27. They will be playing the second ODI at the same venue two days later before moving to Canberra to play the final ODI and the first T20I on December 2 and 4 respectively.

The players will then be coming back to Sydney for the final two T20Is on December 6 and 8 respectively. Meanwhile, the Test played will play two 4-day tour matches in Sydney before the start of the Test series.
